EYOS Expeditions Ltd announced today that it has appointed Julian Chang, well known as one of the leading figures in Asian yachting, as its exclusive representative in Asia. Chang said, “EYOS takes discerning clients to the world’s most wild or culturally rich locations in extraordinary luxury and safety. They have helped open up new destinations for superyachts; a decade ago, virtually no private vessels were traveling to these regions. I believe the Asian market is eager for something more rewarding than traditional superyacht charters.”
Ben Lyons, CEO of EYOS Expeditions, commented, “We couldn’t have a better partner than Julian. His expertise and insight into the Asian superyacht industry are second to none. More important to us, however, is that he shares our belief that yachts should be used to create extraordinary moments far beyond the normal cruising grounds of the Caribbean and Mediterranean.
His lifelong love for the sea, respect for environmentally rich havens, and understanding of yacht design and construction make him a perfect fit for EYOS and our clients.”
Working with EYOS management, Chang will promote the company and raise its profile in the region through events, meetings and media promotion. In addition, Chang and Lyons will both be at the Singapore Yacht Show in April and participate in the Asia Pacific Superyacht and Boating Conference.
Chang added, “The expeditions that EYOS organizes, plans and guides are unlike anything else in yachting. They create true, once-in-a-lifetime experiences and immerse their clients in a destination. I look forward to traveling on one myself!”
About Julian Chang: Chang has been interested in the sea for almost his entire life. After serving in the Singapore Armed Forces and then obtaining a diploma in Business Administration in London, Chang joined the family business of building offshore vessels.
Since 1988, he has been involved in building some of the largest mega yachts in Asia. He participated in the design and construction of the 88-meter Asean Lady, which was based on the design of 1,000 year-old South Pacific proas, and the construction of the magnificent 90-meter megayacht Nero.
Chang has also been a pioneer in environmental conservation, recognizing early the need to preserve pristine seas. Along with his brother, Brian, he spent years lobbying to have Malaysian waters dedicated as a Marine Park in the 1980s.
Chang is a founding member of the Singapore Superyacht Association, a Board member of the International Seakeepers Society, and the Managing Director of Raffles Yacht Pte Ltd.
