EYOS Expeditions Ltd and Triton Submarines, LLC announced a ground-breaking partnership that will revolutionize the luxury superyacht and private submarine industry. Clients will now be able to reach the most remote and wild locations on the planet — and then dive over 1,000 meters below the surface — on the most luxurious superyachts and submarines ever designed.
“Combining the world’s foremost provider of superyacht expeditions with the world’s most sophisticated and advanced personal submarines is a natural fit. Together, we can offer some true, once-in-a-lifetime experiences in areas that were virtually inaccessible to yachts only a few years ago!” says EYOS Partner Rob McCallum.
The partnership will be broad and multi-faceted and allows the companies to work together on yacht design, yacht charters and scientific expeditions. Working closely with yacht-owners (or charter clients), EYOS routinely guides vessels into pristine, seldom-visited areas by organizing, planning, permitting and leading the expeditions. Triton’s ability to mobilize and operate a submersible virtually anywhere in the world will give clients the opportunity to explore undersea far beyond normal cruising grounds for much less than it costs to purchase a new submarine.
Marc Deppe, VP of Marketing for Triton, emphasizes, “The most exciting aspect of these remote, deep dives is that we will be taking people to places that no human has gone before. There could be true discovery on every dive—whether exploring underwater hydrothermal vents in the South Pacific or going to underwater trenches in Antarctica, we might see something never before documented. This could be the perfect opportunity to discover a species and name it after yourself!”
McCallum adds, “Many yacht owners are looking into submersible technology not just for the private adventure and unique experiences a sub can provide, but because it leads to real exploration and a chance to make a direct contribution to marine science.”
Marc Deppe, Triton’s VP of Marketing, says, “Whether on a charter yacht or an owner’s own vessel, working with EYOS will bring a trusted, experienced partner that knows the industry; is an expert on tough regions such as Antarctica, the Arctic and the remote Pacific; and understands the complexities and special requirements of working on a luxury superyacht. Our partnership will allow a seamless interface and ensure that the client receives an absolutely top-rate experience.”
The EYOS/Triton partnership will be particularly valuable when the companies will work with shipyards and naval architects well before a yacht is built. EYOS Partner Tim Soper says, “All too often a yacht is advertised as being capable of expeditions when basic design considerations for this type of operation were overlooked, leading to disappointment when certain things can’t be done, or expensive retrofitting. By being involved in the process from the design phase, we can help ensure the vessels can actually reach these remote destinations safely and comfortably. Working with Triton will give us the opportunity to incorporate the requirements for a personal submarine right from the start—ensuring no compromises are made that might ultimately affect the owner’s or charterer’s experience.”
