For Captains

EYOS is a reliable partner.

EYOS helps captains create unforgettable experiences for their guests. Reeve Jolliffe/EYOS

“There is a ton of pre-planning, contingency planning and crew/personnel experience required to receive a permit and the best method is to utilize the experience of a well established expedition company such as EYOS. Not all trips are equal and we enjoyed a safe and memorable month in the wilderness under their guidance.”
– Capt Winston Joyce-Clark, m/y Big Fish

“As Captain of Hanse Explorer, I consider the EYOS expedition team to be a valuable and reliable partner in creating unforgettable adventures that always exceed our guests’ expectations. EYOS Expedition Leaders are highly skilled, experienced, capable and flexible.”
– Capt Jens Köthen, m/y Hanse Explorer

Ice Pilots

Our polar expeditions will take your yacht to poorly charted, ice strewn waters where local knowledge is essential. EYOS Expeditions selects only the most expert Captains that are intimately familiar with these challenging waters.

In addition to ensuring the safety of your vessel, they immeasurably add value to the guest’s experience. Their skills allow you to go off-the-beaten track, far away from other vessels, to give clients an unmatched experience.

Most importantly, they work with you to give you and your crew the confidence to take your yacht where others don’t venture.

Marine Consulting

To travel safely through the world’s most challenging waters, you must plan thoroughly and well in advance.

The EYOS team works with Captains to prepare yachts and finalize navigation, including sourcing unpublished surveys and handmade anchorage charts for many cruising grounds.

The Polar Regions present special challenges to any vessel. We advise on:

  • What conditions to expect.
  • When and where to go (and which areas to avoid).
  • How to best prepare your vessel.
  • How to ensure you have minimal impact on the environment.
  • How to arrange for an experienced pilot or ice-master with local knowledge.

Permit Applications

Remote and pristine areas are often protected areas, and vessels must receive permission—often notoriously difficult to get—to enter them.

Our ability to get through the ‘red tape’ has resulted in several ambitious and successful ‘world first’ voyages.

EYOS will expedite the complex and time-consuming permit and documentation process by identifying which permits will be necessary, completing the application process for you, and advising on how you can meet the enforced environmental standards.

For expeditions to the polar regions, our IAATO and AECO memberships carry the highest safety and environmental standards.

Voyage Planning

EYOS Expeditions designs itineraries for both simple and highly complex voyages.

Our deep knowledge of the world’s most pristine areas, our broad network of local contacts, and our extensive background in expedition cruising means we design itineraries that give you the highlights of any region. Our understanding of the luxury travel industries means we also make sure you have the best experiences ashore once you are there.

Yacht Rebuilds

We know what works and what does not when operating in the most extreme environments.

If you are designing, building or refitting an expedition yacht, you will find consulting our marine team a wise investment. Our hard won experience spans hundreds of voyages during small ship expeditions to the Polar Regions.
