The best time for a Norway yacht charter is generally from May through September, when long summer days provide extended opportunities for cruising and exploring ashore. Around the Arctic Circle and Lofoten Islands, the midnight sun creates lingering sunsets and nearly continuous daylight during the height of summer.
A private yacht can explore spectacular fjords and secluded waterways along Norway’s deeply indented coastline, including Trollfjorden, Tysfjord and Lonkanfjord, as well as the fjords surrounding the Lofoten Islands. Yes, it is possible to see the Northern Lights from a yacht in northern Norway during late summer and autumn, once darker nights return. During the height of summer, however, the midnight sun and extended daylight mean the aurora is generally not visible, so travelers should choose their dates based on whether they prioritize the Northern Lights or long days for exploration.
