DISCOVER
ANTARCTICA

Antarctica may be the most challenging cruising ground for any expedition yacht, but it offers the right vessel the most incredible experience.

THE WHITE
CONTINENT

The Antarctic Peninsula is by far the warmest place on the continent and supports the widest array of wildlife.

Antarctica challenges our human concept of scale and importance.

Huge aggregations of whales are dwarfed by the coastal mountains and glaciers that surround their feeding grounds. In turn, the food for these cetaceans, the krill, seems impossibly insufficient to feed such an explosion of life. No trees, no buildings, nothing exists to assist in reconciling the sheer size of the southern continent. At most, the penguins and seals of Antarctica display a passing disregard for human presence.

Experiencing this wild, vast expanse aboard an expedition superyacht offers an extroardinary, personal perspective. To be alone in Antarctica re-frames a person’s place on this planet.

TEEMING WITH
WILDLIFE

Often called “The Banana Belt” of Antarctica, the average temperature in January averages 1 to 2 °C (34 to 36 °F).

Many visitors to the Antarctic Peninsula are shocked to find colder temperatures at home than they experienced on their exploration of the white continent. During the Austral summer, daylight approaches 24 hours as one nears the Antarctic Circle. Here too, persistent high-pressure areas can make for days of blue skies, and sunshine reflecting off the astonishingly pure white coast. This relative warmth, cold ocean, and long hours of sunlight are the foundation of an annual chain reaction of life, that has the water nearly boiling with penguins, seals and whales.

SAMPLE ITINERARY
ANTARCTICA

Ice conditions and weather require that our Antarctica expedition yacht charter itinerary is flexible. Each day your Captain and Expedition Leader will discuss options with the group, and your activities and landing sites will be chosen.

GETTING
AROUND

The Antarctic Peninsula experience is dominated by the interaction of the sea with a jagged ice-hewn coast. To that end, there is no better way to explore this region than via expedition superyacht. A polar yacht, with its ice strengthen hull, means navigating with security through scenic, ice-strewn passages and close to massive icebergs and monumental icebergs.

Expedition yacht accessories can include Zodiacs, for making getting right up onto the beach and getting even closer to wildlife; kayaks for soaking in the tranquility of the unpopulated continent; and helicopters for scenic flights inland, to view landscapes few eyes have seen. These superyachts offer ultimate flexibility to maximize the experience of a peninsula visit.
